Northarena Privacy Policy

How information is handled when you use Northarena.

Information associated with your account.

When account access is available, Northarena uses Clerk to handle registration, authentication, and account management. Clerk processes the information you provide, such as your email address, authentication details, and any enabled identity-provider information.

Northarena uses a verified account identifier to decide whether to provide access to Benchmark. Authentication credentials are handled by Clerk, rather than by a Northarena password database.

If you join the Nox waitlist, Clerk processes your registration details and waitlist status in a separate application used for early access.

Information received from Google.

If you choose to sign in with Google, Northarena requests only the basic sign-in scopes (openid, email and profile). Through Clerk, Northarena receives your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile picture. Northarena does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, contacts, or any other Google data.

This information is used only to create your Northarena account, sign you in, keep your session secure, decide whether your account can access Benchmark, and show your name and profile picture in the account menu.

Northarena does not sell Google user data, does not use it for advertising, does not use it to train or improve AI or machine-learning models, and does not transfer it to third parties except Clerk, which processes it on Northarena’s behalf to provide authentication, and where required by law.

Northarena’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can remove Northarena’s access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions. Deleting your Northarena account deletes the Google profile information stored with it.

How information is used.

Account information is used to provide authenticated access and maintain account functionality. Waitlist information is used to record interest in Nox and communicate about early access.

Technical information, including network and request details, may be processed by the hosting and authentication providers to deliver the service, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures.

Account integrity and abuse prevention.

To enforce one account per person and protect the evaluation data, Northarena records, for each account, a device signal computed in your browser from characteristics such as screen size, time zone, hardware concurrency, graphics renderer and a drawn test image, together with the network block (IPv4 /24 or IPv6 /64) your requests come from. Both are stored only as keyed one-way hashes, not as raw values, and the raw IP address is not stored with your account.

These signals are compared between accounts to detect duplicate accounts, automated browsers, self-referral through invitations, shared API keys and bulk extraction. A match creates a review flag; a person reviews flags before any account is locked. Request addresses are also held briefly in server memory to apply short temporary blocks when an address sends requests too quickly.

Northarena keeps API usage counts, API key metadata (name, creation, expiry and last use; the key itself is stored only as a hash), invitation records and support requests for as long as the account exists, and review flags and audit records for up to 24 months after they are resolved, to handle appeals and repeat abuse.

You can appeal a decision at support.northarena.net, which remains available to locked accounts.

Services that support Northarena.

Clerk provides authentication and the early-access waitlist. Cloudflare Pages serves the website, and Oracle Cloud runs the backend that verifies account access and serves evaluation data. Northarena determines how account and waitlist information is used for this service; Clerk processes that information on Northarena’s behalf. Hosting and authentication are subject to the applicable service agreements.

You can read Clerk’s Privacy Policy for information about Clerk’s own services. Its policy distinguishes Clerk’s own customer information from end-user data processed on behalf of an application. If you use a third-party sign-in method, that provider’s privacy practices also apply.

When you use Help me choose on your Home page, Northarena sends the task description you type, together with your chosen priorities and a shortlist of models from Northarena’s data, to TypeSafe AI, whose Jev model makes the choice. Your name, email address and account identifiers are not sent. Do not include personal or confidential information in the task description. Each account can make five such requests a month.

Northarena’s first version does not include advertising trackers or third-party marketing analytics.

Authentication and local session information.

Authentication uses cookies and related browser mechanisms to maintain sessions and support account security. Blocking these may prevent registration or sign-in from working.

Search, filters, and comparison selections remain in the current page state. Your chosen area on Home and a pending invitation code are kept in your browser’s local storage and are not sent anywhere except to redeem the invitation.

Managing and deleting your information.

When signed in, use the account menu to access Clerk’s account management controls, where you can update your profile or delete your account. Options available there depend on the application’s account settings.

For requests about your Northarena account or Nox waitlist entry, including deletion requests, use the contact information on this page or our About page. Information needed for an active account or pending waitlist entry is retained while those services remain in use and is deleted when the account or waitlist entry is deleted; provider retention and operational logs are subject to the relevant provider’s practices.
